DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  Trade started up on Tuesday again last 
week and came in a little bit each day for the rest of the 
week. Southern deals had a range of $119 to $120, roughly 
steady to $.50 higher than the prior week's weighted 
averages. Northern dressed trade had a range of $187.50 to 
$192.50, mostly $190 to $191, generally $1 to $2 higher than 
the previous week's weighted average basis Nebraska. 
According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Summary 
reports the accumulated weekly average price totals are as 
follows (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in 
parentheses): KS $119.18($118.86); NE $191.00($188.94); TX 
$119.14($118.83); IA $189.87($188.10); CO $120.00($118.00)

According to the Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter 
Cattle reports weekly trade volume totals were as follows: KS 
8,814; NE 23,087; TX 7,953; IA 18,350, CO 1,135. Friday's 
slaughter totaled 115,000 head, 4,000 more than the prior 
week and 21,000 greater than the previous year. Saturday's 
kill was estimated at 62,000 head, bringing the weekly total 
to 640,000 head, 2,000 above the week before, and 121,000 
higher than 2020.

DTN COMMENTS: A typically quiet Monday morning with both buyers 
and sellers busy taking inventory. Bids and asking prices are 
not established as of yet, and significant trade volume will 
likely be delayed until the second half of the week. Beef 
cutouts are expected to be mixed lower with generally light box 

For the week ending May 08, 2021, Imported Beef Passed for 
Entry in the U.S. totaled 39,871, 95.02% of the previous week 
and 99.18% of the 4-week average.
